Item FL882, GI-42, Bust of Washington / “THE FATHER OF HIS COUNTRY” – Bust of Zachary Taylor / “A LITTLE MORE GRAPE CAPTAIN BRAGG” – aqua, Quart, Open Pontil, has some olive striations in the neck, very bold embossing, has a small (1/4”) shallow chip on the top of the lip otherwise perfect condition, obviously the great thing about this flask is the extremely long neck and the applied tapered top. A very unusual feature and extremely rare, America circa 1847 to 1855, $675

Note: General Taylor was not asking for a glass of wine when he said, “A little more grape Captain Bragg”. This famous quotation is from the Battle of Buena Vista on February 23, 1847, during the Mexican War. Taylor is directing Captain Bragg to fire more grape shot from his cannons at the advancing Mexican army.
