Item FL779, GI-111, Bust of Louis Kossuth, “BRIDGETON NEW JERSEY” – Sailboat, aqua, Open Pontil, Pint, extremely bold embossing, has a faint band of inside haze about 1” wide in the lower half (you only notice this if you hold it up to a bright light), otherwise perfect condition. An outstanding example of this very rare flask and the best aqua example we have ever seen, Bridgeton Glass Works, circa 1851 to 1855, $950

Note: Louis Kossuth was a Hungarian patriot who strived to obtain freedom for his people. Russia intervened and crushed the Libertarian Movement in Hungary. In America he was viewed as a hero, and President Fillmore successfully negotiated for Kossuth to be released and offered political asylum in the United States. In 1851 the US frigate Mississippi transported Kossuth and many of his supporters to America.
